A record roost of 9300 Black-headed Gulls on Vinson's and Sunley's Marsh yesterday evening. We usually get a 'pre-breeding' build up of Black-headed Gulls in March before they move on to the local breeding grounds, but generally counts over 4000 are exceptional.

The Whooper Swan numbers are continuing to drop back with 1350 as a maximum count at yesterday's roost.

Common Sandpiper still present today on Sunley's Marsh. Some incomplete wader counts included 60+ Avocet, 60+ Oystercatcher, 37 Black-tailed Godwit, 6 Ringed Plover, 4 Curlew and 4 Dunlin.

Peregrine hunting this morning, 8+ Common Buzzard in the area, 2+ Marsh Harrier, 2 Sparrowhawk and Kestrel.
