Sand Martins

A noticeable passage north of Sand Martins was one of the highlights of a grey overcast day, maybe as many as 60 birds went through if not more. At least 4 Chiffchaff singing around the reserve.

The usual pair of adult Mediterranean Gulls (one with green darvic ring) were around the mere on and off all day. Still some gorgeous Icelandic Black-tailed Godwits in breeding plumage on the reserve as well as good numbers of Avocet.

Around 22 Whooper swan still present today. Marsh Harrier, Sparrowhawk, Kestrel and several Common Buzzard seen.
