Siberian Chiffchaff a first for the reserve.

A Siberian Chiffchaff (tristis) singing this morning by the sewage works from the Reedbed Walk. Greyer in colour than the usual Chiffchaff, the bird has a greenish wing panel. It's song is distinctively different too. Also at least 2 standard Chiffchaff present there.

Elsewhere on the reserve 14 Avocet, 1000+ Lapwing, 3 Ringed Plover, 50+ Ruff, 50+ Black-tailed Godwit, 65 Oystercatcher, Golden Plover, Curlew, Dunlin and 2 Common Snipe, the later from the Gladstone Hide.

Raptors included Marsh Harrier, 3 Common Buzzard and Sparrowhawk.

Over 1000 Pink-footed Geese and 700+ Whooper Swan.
