Sightings

More signs of wader migration this morning with 2 juvenile Greenshank briefly on the Mere before heading towards Ron Barker Hide, Greenshank also heard this evening. Other waders on site today include the juvenile Wood Sandpiper still present this evening along with 2 Green Sandpiper. The ever growing flock of Lapwings now numbers c800 birds, in past years this flock has reached 4000+ !! The Common Sandpiper is still from Ron Barker also growing numbers of Snipe with upto 30 birds recently.

Two Whinchat were on show from Ron Barker this morning continuing a good year for this species on site, the usual Kingfishers can still be seen around the reserve. A Grey Wagtail has been a regular visitor to the Mere around the new island and new shoreline in recent days.

Female Merlin and a juv Peregrine plus the usual Common Buzzard, Sparrowhawk and Kestrel.

Little Egret still from Harrier Hide, also 1 Pintail, several Little Grebe, 25+ Gadwall, several Wigeon and Tufted Duck from here.
