After yesterday's awful weather, today was warm and sunny  and the reserve had a completely different feel about it. Birds were singing everywhere, with a number arrived of freshly arrived migrants making their presence known. 3 Reed Warblers, Sedge Warbler, Whitethroat, and a Garden Warbler were noted on and around the Reedbed Walk. Another Garden Warbler was near the Kingfisher hide, and Blackcaps and Chiffchaffs were singing from several different areas. The first 2 Swifts of the year were seen early on over the Reedbed Walk, with one being seen at various times throughout the day, along with a few House and Sand Martins.

The Common Crane was seen just off the reserve this morning, but again made it's way back by around lunchtime, before disappearing from view and not being seen again until 4pm at least.

Today's waders included a moulting Curlew Sandpiper, 2 Dunlin, and a Whimbrel, whilst 2 Marsh Harriers were seen regularly , and a first Summer plumaged Mediterranean Gull was in front of the Ron Barker hide.
