Siskins on the move

A good count of ~ 20 Siskin on Alder by the Janet Kear Hide. It's a good time of year to catch up with these smart small finches as they move from wintering to breeding grounds. Many of the birds we see will have come from continental europe.

Brambling still present with Chaffinch, Greenfinch, Goldfinch, Reed Bunting and assorted Tits. Great-spotted Woodpeckers, Treecreeper and Redwing also from the JK Hide.

Adult Med Gull from the UU Hide late afternoon.

Three Peregrines in the morning, 3+ Common Buzzard, Kestrel and Sparrowhawk. Two Raven feeding on a Whooper Swan from the United Utilities Hide.

Waders included 20 Avocet, 100+ Ruff, 40+ Oystercatcher, 2 Ringed Plover, 8 Black-tailed Godwit and 400+ Lapwing.
