Sparrowhawk

A single Brambling was again by the Janet Kear feeding station along with Chaffinch and Greenfinch. A Sparrowhawk caused a bit of excitement when it alighted on one of the islands on the Mere, it stayed for over 20 mins and caused all the Mallard to get very inquisitive, they all gathered around looking at the hawk.

Waders are once again returning inland in small numbers, there were 2 Ostercatcher and 2 Ringed Plover on the Mere today along with 8 Black tailed Godwit and upto 70 Ruff. The usual family group of Peregrine are still present, also 3 Common Buzzard.
