Spotted Crake
Some late night detective work after a ringing session has produced at least 2 calling Spotted Crake on the reserve. Pretty much no chance of seeing these birds however over the years we have had a number of sightings. Perhaps like juvenile Water Rail there maybe a better chance of seeing a young bird if there was any breeding success?
Two Cuckoo showed well along the tree line towards the Janet Kear Hide viewed from the UU Hide.
Waders on the reserve included Avocet, Lapwing, Oystercatcher, Little Ringed Plover, Black-tailed Godwit, Redshank, Common Snipe and Ruff.
