A cracking day started with a Spotted Redshank seen flying in high from the SW in the morning, the bird spent most of the time on the Mere and was still present at dusk roosting with Ruff back on the Mere. Other waders included 12 Golden Plover, 4 Dunlin, 60 Ruff, good numbers of Snipe, 900+ Lapwing and a single Black tailed Godwit. Fantastic numbers of Pink footed Geese with up to 10,000 birds still using the reserve each day at the moment, also at least 900 Whooper Swans with another 1000 still to arrive!

The Willow Tit is still being seen from Janet Kear hide along with Reed Bunting and good numbers of Chaffinch. A good raptor day with a single Merlin, Peregrine, at least 3 Marsh Harrier, several Common Buzzard, Sparrowhawk and Kestrel. 5 Fieldfare were seen along the edge of the reserve as well as the usual Treecreeper, Goldcrest and Long tailed Tit.
