Spring, just around the corner....

Another wild one. In fact hopefully everything will still be standing when we get in tomorrow! A quiet day report wise. Just over 900 Whooper Swan and 1450 Pink-footed Geese roosting on the reserve this morning. The 1st winter Ross's Goose was still present on the Mere in front of the Swan Link Hide for most of the day.

One of the male Ruff is pretty certain spring isn't far away with it's breeding plumage of ginger head and black breast feathers being very well developed.

One or two new gulls in. At least 500 Black-headed Gull, 2 Herring Gull, 2 Lesser-blacked Gull and 2 Great Black-backed Gull.

A Song Thrush was singing this morning near the Kingfisher Hide. Redwing on the overflow car park. Great-spotted Woodpecker from the Janet Kear Hide. Two Little Grebe seen from the UU Hide.
