Spring-like

Another lovely day starting with a hard frost but soon warming up in the strengthening sun.

A Small Tortoiseshell Butterfly was seen flying today. Probably disturbed from hibination by the warmth of the sun.

No surprises to say that the Avocet numbers have increased to 25. Other waders included 3 Ringed Plover, 70+ Ruff, 60+ Oystercatcher, 20+ Black-tailed Godwit and 600+ Lapwing.

Two Peregrine hunting this morning and Barn Owl early on. At least 3 Common Buzzard, Sparrowhawk and Kestrel.

If you are visiting for the first time do catch the Whooper Swan feeds at 10:30/11:00 and 15:00/15:30

A Bittern was reported yesterday but no further details are known.
