Starlings arriving

A good 5000+ Starling coming into roost in Pat's Reed Bed from the Reed Bed Walk or the Harrier Hide. Last year we had a brief peak flock of 30,000 coming in so the next few weeks will be interesting.

A far calmer day and good for tomorrow too. At least 8,000 Pink-feet coming into roost. Around 20 Pochard on the Mere this morning.

A Merlin showed well this morning, 2 Peregrine, Marsh Harrier, Sparrowhawk, Kestrel and a few Common Buzzard.

Waders included 600+ Lapwing, 63 Black-tailed Godwit, 27 Ruff and 20+ Common Snipe.

Two Stonechat were new in from the Harrier Hide. Other birds seen included a male Blackcap, 3+ Goldcrest, Great Spotted Woodpecker, 4+ Coal Tit and Nuthatch.

No reports of the Firecrest but keep checking around the pines or any tit flock on the Nature Trail or inside the Collection.
