Stonechats

A pair of Stonechats can be seen from Ron Barker hide at the moment, often fairly close around the pool to right of hide, also a Barn Owl was out hunting around the pump house field early afternoon.

Good numbers of Cormorants around the Mere with at least 32 today, also still a single Black tailed Godwit, at least 52 Ruff and small numbers of Snipe. A pair of Raven were out on the fenceposts along with the adult male Peregrine today. Other raptors included 1 poss 2 Marsh Harrier, 4 Common Buzzard and 2 Kestrel.

Two Great spotted Woodpecker were seen including one from Janet Kear feeding station, Long tailed Tit, Coal Tit and good numbers of Tree Sparrow continue to give good views at the feeding stations, also small numbers of Reed Buntings.

It goes without saying that there are big numbers of wildfowl around at the moment including c1200 Whooper Swan, c2000 Pink footed Geese and lots of Wigeon, Teal and Pintail and other duck.
