Tens of Thousands and a Bullfinch.

A lovely day, loads of birds and loads of visitors making the most of the spectacle. No specific counts but the total bird count will be over 20,000.

With such a concentration of birds the raptors are always present, if only to feed on carrion. Merlin again today, 3 Peregrine, 2 Common Buzzard, Kestrel, Marsh Harrier and Sparrowhawk.

Bird of the day was a female Bullfinch ( i need that for my reserve list...) seen between the Hale and Kingfisher Hides. We do get a few winter sightings of this species but they never seem to hang around.

Brambling again, flocks of Fieldfare and some Redwing feeding on the reserve. Stonechat again and Water Rail from the Ron Barker Hide.
