Showery at the start, hail storm near the end, breezy but sunny in between. A good goose day with around 3,500 Pink-footed Geese coming into roost. Two European White-fronted Geese and a Tundra Bean Goose were present during the day. Over 1000 Whooper Swan still.

I recommend visiting birders play the 'Oystercatcher Game' . Simply count the number of Oystercatcher when you arrive and then just before you leave, all this week the count has been getting higher. Today 59 were roosting as light faded on the back of the Mere (51 in the morning..). Other waders included 1000+ Lapwing, 70+ Ruff and 5 Ringed Plover.

Raptors included 4 Marsh Harrier, Peregrine, 4 Common Buzzard, Sparrowhawk and Kestrel. Barn Owl hunting morning and late afternoon.

Skylarks singing, reminding us that spring is round the corner.
