Today's Sightings

Cuckoo still present, calling inside the grounds between the Canoe Safari and the Third Phase. Blackcaps and Chiffchaffs calling there too.

Green Sandpiper, mostly from the Hale Hide. At least 30 Avocet present, other waders included Black-tailed Godwit, Ringed Plover, Oystercatcher and Redshank.

Common Whitethroat, Reed and Sedge Warbler along the Reed Bed Walk. At least 50 Swift feeding over the reserve this morning. Swallow and House Martin also present.

Raptors included Marsh Harrier, 2+ Common Buzzard and Kestrel.

The Moth Morning catch was quiet after a cool and windy night with the best of the bunch being Beautiful Golden Y. A few butterfly on the wing with Common Blue, Brimstone and Small Tortoiseshell reported.
