Glorious winters day, the first in a long time with sub zero conditions and some ice formation around the edge of the Mere. The calm weather also meant a wildfowl pack mere with thousands of Teal, Wigeon and Shelduck, and hundreds of Pintail.

Raptors seen so far today include; 2 Peregrine, 3 Marsh Harrier and 2 Common Buzzard. Belated news from yesterday with Short-eared  hunting late afternoon and a Tawny Owl seen in the collection area. Barn Owl hunting today early afternoon.

European White-fronted Geese 20+ flew in with Pink-footed Geese late morning and some birds still present late afternoon from the Ron Barker Hide.

At least one Berwick's Swan on the Mere this afternoon.

Willow Tit and Brambling from the Janet Kear Hide. Plenty of Tree Sparrow there too.
