Slightly damp on and off but still a winter spectacle to behold. A count of Whooper Swan hit 1650, probably numbers swelled by birds moving north from WWT Welney. Six Tundra Bean Geese were with ~ 400 Pink-footed Geese on Owl Marsh this morning. Some excellent counts of wildfowl including; 3316 Teal, 1214 Wigeon, 824 Shelduck, 385 Pintail, 98 Pochard, 28 Tufted Duck and 4 Gadwall.

Waders were well represented with over 4000 Lapwing, 107 Ruff (largest count of the winter), 42 Oystercatcher, 10 Black-tailed Godwit, 7 Dunlin, 5 Ringed Plover and 4 Avocet. A harrier flushed a snipe that was thought to be Jack Snipe.

Raptors included 6 Common Buzzard, 6 Marsh Harrier (sub adult male, adult female and 4 immatures), Sparrowhawk, Kestrel and a distant Peregrine. Barn Owl late on.

Just off the reserve Great White Egret.
