Waders drop in

The first day for a while with some 'proper weather', 20mph WSW winds and the odd squally shower moving through. Classic conditions at this time of year to drop in some waders.

Certainly the biggest count of the year of Dunlin with 33 birds by late afternoon, also 9 Ringed Plover some being of the tundra race which are smaller and darker than the birds that breed in the UK.

Early on good numbers of Swallow, House Martin and some Sand Martin as well as an influx of Swift feeding low over the reserve in the windy conditions.

The weather continues to look interesting into the weekend if you don't mind braving the odd shower.
