Whimbrel

Classic time for Whimbrel moving through the North West, with two birds new in today from the Ron Barker Hide. Other waders present include 100+ Lapwing a few with newly hatched chicks. At least 30 Avocet, 8 Redshank, 4 Curlew, 6 Ruff, Ringed Plover, Oystercatchers, a few Black-tailed Godwit and Common Sandpiper.

Adult Little Gull present this morning at least, also 2cy Med Gull displaying to Black-headed Gull throughout the day on the Mere. Twenty plus Common Gull dropped in mid morning.

Loads of vocal Willow Warbler in or moving through this morning. Plenty of Blackcap, Chiffchaff, Sedge, Reed and Whitethroat. Also Grasshopper Warbler reeling at the start of the Reed Bed Walk.

Four Wheatear in a freshly ploughed field beyond the sewage works.

Butterflies included Green-veined White, Orange-tip, Brimstone, Small Tortoiseshell and Peacock.
