Whitethroat and Reed Warbler

Another fine day! No complaints about the visibility honestly..

Two new warbler species for the year with the arrival of Whitethroat and Reed Warbler both along the Reed Bed Walk. Chiffchaff, Willow Warbler, Blackcap all present and singing along the hedge rows. Grasshopper Warbler reeling near the end of Long Hedge. Just off the Reed Bed Walk on Marsh Moss Lane Corn Bunting.

In the fields further on at least 3 Wheatear showing well this morning on the back of an old trailer.

More Whimbrel through today with a couple of birds on the Mere this morning. Other waders included 50+ Avocet, 30+ Black-tailed Godwit, 20 Lapwing, 10+ Oystercatcher, 6 Redshank, 6 Ruff and Common Snipe.

Grey and Red-legged Partridge were opposite the reserve this morning along the public footpath that leads to Mere Sands Wood. Corn Bunting there too.

Barn Owl flying at 4.30pm. Marsh Harrier, 4+ Common Buzzard and Kestrel reported today.

Brown Hare very active out on the reserve fields.
