A reasonable start to the day, in fact the poor weather didn't arrive until after 12am and then most of the rain had blown through by 3:30pm.

An imm/female Garganey was on the Mere this morning, and possibly another in the afternoon from the Harrier Hide. Four Avocet were new in, the first for nearly 2 months. We have had Avocet records into November.

A good count of 76 Ruff (42 male, 3 female, 22 juv male and 9 juv female), 4 Dunlin, Little Stint, 2 Curlew Sandpiper, 2 Black-tailed Godwit, 10+ Snipe, prob Little Ringed Plover and 300+ Lapwing.

Feral goose counts produced 570 Greylag and 200 Canada.

Limited raptor sighting in the squally conditions but 2 Marsh Harrier and 3 Common Buzzard were noted.
