Woodcock again

Woodcock showed well from the Janet Kear Hide this morning until early afternoon when it was flushed into the undergrowth when the feeders were topped up.

Grey Wagtail by the Beaver Enclosure. Always a bird that reacts to hard weather by leaving it's upland sites for 'warmer' lowland areas. It's a bird which regularly turns up in urban areas in snowy weather.

Usual raptors although 8 Common Buzzard was a good count which included distant birds. Three Peregrine spent sometime hassling Buzzards siting on fence posts.

Brambling from the Janet Kear Hide. Two Treecreeper with a mixed tit flock along the Nature Trail. A Goldcrest was seen hoping along the surface of one of the frozen ponds in the Waterfowl Gardens, perhaps looking for dead insects.

Good numbers of Common Shelduck on the Mere with 600+ birds.
