A new species for the year in the shape of two Oystercatcher. It was unlikely that we would miss this large (noisy) wader as a few pairs breed on site and spring passage numbers regularly top 100. The Lapwing are putting on spectacular displays when flushed by raptors, with at least 3000 birds present. Also 50+ Ruff.

Three Bewick's Swan this morning from the Ron Barker Hide and (another?) single bird at the back of the Mere mid afternoon.

Three Marsh Harrier and two Peregrine in one binocular view this morning. The ring-tailed Hen Harrier showed well early afternoon, also 3 Common Buzzard, Kestrel and Sparrowhawk. Barn Owl hunting from 3.30pm.

At least 6 Barnacle Geese flew in with ~ 300 Pink-footed Geese this afternoon, with more Pink's coming in later in the day.
