The wind is turning!

The wind is finally turning north-easterly! Four more swans made the most of these good migratory conditions and flew into Slimbridge today, increasing the reserve count to eight. We welcomed back loyal pair Vance and Vanessa who have spent every winter here since 2003. They were joined by Densel, son of Dylan and Deena who are sponsored by HMS Queen Elizabeth! Densel learnt the migration route to Slimbridge as a cygnet in 2007, and appears to have brought back a mate with him this year. The north-easterly winds are set to continue for the rest of the day, so after several weeks of westerly winds and few eastern migrants, it looks as though things are starting to happen.....
