WWT Slimbridge Springs to Life this Half Term!

This May half term, the team at WWT Slimbridge will once again be showcasing the best that the season has to offer with their Spring to Life event.

Between Saturday 26 May and Sunday 3 June visitors can enjoy close encounters with nature’s new-borns, visit our life-cycle exhibit (featuring some of our iconic species), book onto VIP Duckery Experiences and Wild Safaris, follow outdoor trails and more.

Visitor Experience Manager, Fran Penny said:

“It’s been a long-time coming this year, but spring is finally upon us and we can’t wait to share the highlights with our visitors! Our experts will be on-hand to give guided tours of some of the most exciting (and often unseen) areas of the site. Visit the Duckery to see adorable newly-hatched chicks and hear how we save species, visit the far reaches of the reserve in a Wild Safari and see the special reed bed habitat from a wholly unique point of view in a Canoe Safari adventure!”

Book onto a VIP Duckery Experience, where you’ll be taken behind-the-scenes by one of WWT Slimbridge’s Aviculture Wardens to learn all about the incubation, hatching and raising process that sits behind their species-saving conservation work and maybe even see baby birds hatching in our duckling crèche!

See the lesser-frequented areas of the reserve looking their best on a Canoe Safari into the reed bed, where new life can be discovered around every corner or a Wild Safari – venturing out towards the estuary with one of our Reserve Wardens, where you’ll look out for birds, butterflies, dragonflies, reptiles, small mammals and more.

Bigger and better than last year, the Nature’s New-borns exhibit is a must for all ages, featuring native and non-native reptile, amphibian and mammal species with fun facts and descriptions of their life cycles. Follow it up with an outdoor trail where you can truly explore WWT Slimbridge, discovering lots of species and fun facts along the way.

Find out more and book your VIP Duckery Experience online today. Non-members can save 10% on centre admission by booking online in advance. Entry is free to members, with small additional charges for optional extra special tours.
