The black swans do what they best; breed!

She's such a proud mum, and so she should be! This black swan pair are a virtual power house of breeding ability. Still with their babes from 2012 in the pen, they have hatched out their cygnets for 2013 on the 5th March.

Head on down to the Australian pen to watch them before they grow up; I could gaze at them for hours. Cygnets go through the most adorable first 4 weeks of life as their little necks begin to stretch and their posture begins to look super off-balance and ungainly.

At the moment they are toddling across the grass with mum. There really is nothing quite so adorable as a fluffy bottom waddling into the distance... As the season progresses, mark their growth, and marvel at the miracles of new life :)
