Welcoming BIJ and BGP to the WWT way.

A quick note to celebrate the partnership of Nene pair BIJ and BGP and the new part they have to play in our adoptions scheme at WWT Slimbridge! This pretty young duo will now be offered out for adoption as part of our adoptions packages. As ever, adopters can hunt down their adopted pair in the grounds for a bit of a chat and some TLC. Here's a quick hint; these two like to split their time between a tranquil moment in the tropical garden, and a stonking sandwich crust in the canoe safari playground!

These head shots show BIJ a young 2 year old male, and BGP a 3 year old female. BIJ is a year younger than his bride BGP (their darvic rings run in alphabetical order and so you can guess at estimating age comparisons if you wish). Their romance was slow and steady, the two of them often foiled in their connection by fence-lines and pesky gates. BIJ could also be considered a bit of a "mummy's boy" due to hanging around with his parents for nearly a full year after his hatch. Not the most attractive trait in a future husband?!

Nevertheless their bond is now strong, and BIJ has flown the coop. BIJ and BGP now compete for territory alongside his parents, and have hit on a fabulous breeding spot for 2014. I'll keep you updated!
