Finished home improvements!
And just a quick update to say that the changes to the Caribbean flamingos' enclosure are now all done. New nesting sites have been created by Phil and the other avics, and new estuary sand has been delivered into the enclosure (in a similar fashion to how I have already explained with the greater flamingos in a previous post) to provide an enhanced substrate for the adults to walk, preen and rest on, as well as providing a safe and clean area for their chicks to crèche in. There is a lot of group display on-going (both in this enclosure and with the Chilean flamingos); head-flagging, marching, wing saluting galore. So keep your eyes peeled for future flamingo developments... And with Phil today shovelling sand yet again, but this time into the lesser flamingos' pen, the continued enhancement of all the flamingo enclosures goes on!
