Canoe safari

Our Canoe Safari reopens for the 2025 season on 5 April.

Grab a paddle and spot wildlife from the water on our fun, kilometre long, Canoe Safari trail. Sit back and relax as you look out for wildlife along the way including dragonflies, kingfishers, warblers, ducks and maybe even water voles if you’re really lucky!

Useful information

  • Open daily April to September and weekends in October and Half Term: 11am - 5pm (last hire 4pm).
  • Canoe and coracle hirers are allotted one hour on the water.
  • Weather dependent - the trail is closed during very cold, wet or windy weather. We recommend checking at admissions on arrival to see if the Canoe Safari is running that day to avoid disappointment.
  • Safaris cannot be booked in advance as they are weather permitting. They are allocated on a first come, first served basis.
  • Canoes are £10 per boat and can seat up to three people. Suitable for children aged 3+, subject to conditions. Each hired canoe must be accompanied by at least one adult (18+).
  • Payment is by card only at the Canoe Hut or by cash at the Canoe Kiosk or Gift Shop.

Feeling adventurous? Why not test your skills to the limit on a coracle, an ancient one-person boat and an important part of the heritage of the river Severn. The lightweight circular boats are notoriously unstable so can leave you in a bit of a spin! Coracles are £10 per boat and hirers must be aged 18+.

Even trickier is the ancient coracle - can you master it?

Please note schools are not permitted to undertake the Canoe Safari experience due to supervision ratios.
