Open rehearsals will mark the beginning of an exciting dance project studying the movement and behaviour of birds at WWT Slimbridge.

On Thursday and Friday (April 10/11) modern dancers will present their first ‘findings’ into the life of birds via open rehearsals taking place in the visitor centre and grounds of the famous wildlife attraction.

The Project called Without Measure has been assembled by Cotswold-based choreographer Alex Howard.

Alex selected dancers to represent the birds, she will now work with them until the late autumn when the Project will culminate in a full public performance and exhibition of research.

As well as observing the birds firsthand on their visits, the dancers have been talking to the staff at WWT Slimbridge to learn more about the birds there and their behaviour. Their dances will cover the themes many themes including courtship, nesting and migration.

The final performance will include music with a nod to the traditional with the inclusion of Tchaikovsky’s famous Swan Lake. Details of the date of the performance will be released nearer to the time.
