New Discovery Hide at its opening

mumanddaughterFamilies flocked to see wildlife from WWT Slimbridge’s new Discovery Hide on Father’s Day (today).

The hide, which has been kitted out with modern decor, soft furnishings and birdwatching equipment, had a busy opening day as families came to spend time watching wildlife.

To celebrate its opening a guide was in the hide throughout the day helping visitors to catch all the action on the South Lake.

Wildlife highlights spotted on the day included black headed gulls, a black tailed godwit, an oystercatcher family, a shelduck family and a kingfisher.

Sally Munro, marketing manager at WWT Slimbridge, said: “Father’s Day has been a very fitting day to open the hide as lots of families have come to enjoy watching wildlife together.

“Visitors have been quite surprised about how different the hide feels to the more traditional ones and if early indications are anything to go by it will be an extremely popular addition to WWT Slimbridge.”
