WWT Slimbridge featured on Great British Railway Journeys with Michael Portillo on 21 July.

Back in April 2021, Michael Portillo headed out to our wetlands to learn more about the Severn Estuary and the opening of the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust. You will see some Slimbridge familiar faces during the episode including then Visitor Experience Manager, Fran Penny, and Reserve Manager, Dave Paynter.

The stories within the episode cover the history of Slimbridge and how Sir Peter Scott set up WWT in the 1950’s. Filming locations include Scott House, outside Scott cottage and within the reed beds.

During filming they touched on some of the older hides we have at Slimbridge - including the World War II Pill Box viewing point along the Summer Walkway, but generally the filming covered the history of the Slimbridge site.
