Christmas Gift Tags Calligraphy

As part of our Words For Wetlands programme, join local Calligraphy Artist Adele Dark and create your own Christmas gift tags/place holders using a square edged automatic pen.

Date: Saturday 16 November

Time: 10am - 4pm

Calligraphy means “beautiful writing”, so if you are interested in joining the Calligraphy tribe and find a ‘slow’ and rewarding pastime or want to write your own beautiful gift tags, come on this taster course to see if it’s for you.

You will be learning how to use an automatic pen with ink and paint and drawing inspiration from the style of Ben Shahn lettering, a Lithuanian Artist living in America during the 20th century, to design your own personalised alphabet and Christmas gift tags.

Worksheets specialist practice papers, pen, ink, gouache paint and blank tags will be available for you to use. You will take home your bespoke tags at the end of the session. Bring a friend and soak up the Christmas spirit at Slimbridge.

Adele, a qualified Teacher, began learning Calligraphy over 10 years ago with the Society of Scribes and Illuminators (SSI), London. She graduated from the SSI Advanced Training Scheme and has recently achieved the Calligraphy and Lettering Arts Society Intermediate Certificate level and Accredited Tutor status. Adele at Calligraphy in the Cotswolds runs workshops and courses at Art Centres and corporate venues and has completed several private and royal commissions.
