25 August- our first returning Pintails

Following a breeding season in the Arctic, three Northern Pintail have returned to the reserve

Seven juvenile Ruff (all sizes), 2 Snipe, single Black-tailed Godwit, 2 Green Sandpiper, 118 Lapwing, Ross's Goose with the Barnacle Geese, 15 Wigeon, 50+ Shoveler and 300+ Teal.

No birds on the scrape this morning! We are planning to head out today to cut back vegetation for views etc.

Wood Sandpiper, Spotted Redshank but mobile, Green Sandpiper, 1 Avocet but flew off, 6 Black-tailed Godwit and 12 Lapwing as well as 20 Shoveler and c40 Teal. 13 Pied Wagtail.

*Note that we may have a work party here tomorrow morning (26th August) if it's still quieter for birds.

Rushy

Ten adult Ruff, 1 Spotted Redshank, 11 Redshank, 2 Snipe, 2 Avocet, 94 Black-tailed Godwit, 3 Green Sandpiper. Greenshank heard over, it was seen on the estuary earlier.

Middle Point

76 Curlew, 500+ Black-headed Gull, 6 Little Egret and the Dunlin/Ringed Plover flock to the North
