A rather grey day

This morning the estuary was hidden in fog, which eventually lifted but the weather remains grey with rain to come.

Rushy Hide
Three Spotted Redshank were present this morning, along with 109 Black-tailed Godwit, eight Redshank, two Shelduck, 45 Teal and the Avocet.

Middle Point
Out in the fog this morning were a group of 200+ small waders, but too distant to identify all present. High tide should push them in closer or to the Top New Piece for views from the Zeiss Hide. At least 15 Grey Plover and 18 Golden Plover were on the mudflats this morning, along with several Curlew, a Bar-tailed Godwit, two Redshank, single Black-tailed Godwit, 22 Pintail and 18 Cranes. Two Stonechat were also see in the reedbed.

Zeiss Hide
Ahead of high tide later this morning, early counts included five Ruff, a Spotted Redshank and Green Sandpiper. A Yellow Wagtail flew over. Two Garganey amongst the duck which also included 95 Shoveler, 391 Teal and two Pintail. A Stoat was bouncing around in the reedbed rides. A Marsh Harrier was hunting here this morning.

Decoy Hide
Four Mandarin (three males and a female) were on the pond with six Shoveler, a Grey Heron, a Little Grebe and six Tufted Duck.

Robbie Garnett Hide
At least 12 Ruff were on the Tack Piece this morning along with a good number of Teal, 19 Wigeon, a Black-tailed Godwit and three Redshank.
