Another male Lesser Emperor was seen briefly on the Wild Safari this morning.

Another male Lesser Emperor was seen briefly on the Wild Safari this morning. If the weather, ground conditions and manpower allow we'll now be running Wild Safaris everyday at 11:30am and 2pm during the summer holidays. Book on arrival at admissions, pre-booking online is not available.

South Lake
There were 328 Black-tailed Godwit on the wader scrape this morning as more birds arrive back from Iceland. Also present were 96 Lapwing, 33 Redshank, the pair of Little-ringed Plover with their single remaining chick plus another adult passing through and 11 Ruff, including a female (reeve).

Zeiss Hide
At least 80 Avocet were on the Top New Piece this morning along with 3 Green Sandpiper and a Greenshank.

Robbie Garnett Hide
Things are starting to pick up on the Tack Piece. This mornings count included a Buzzard, two Grey Heron, 4 Little-ringed Plover, 5 Avocet, 3 Green Sandpiper, an Oystercatcher and the pair of Shelduck with 7 ducklings.

Rushy Hide
The lower pond held 12 Lapwing, an Oystercatcher, 11 Green Sandpiper, 6 Teal, 2 Snipe and 2 Avocet this morning.

Elsewhere on the reserve our Cranes are now starting to flock together and are feeding recently ploughed fields near the South Lake, with birds occasionally seen in flight over the Zeiss Hide as birds head out to the Dumbles. Pairs include Oakie and Sherbert, Wendy and Alberts, Phelps and Elizabeth Royal, Monty and Evie with Sedge and a second-calendar year bird (one of last year's chicks) also present.
