A juvenile Wood Sandpiper was on the wader scrape at the South Lake this morning.

A juvenile Wood Sandpiper was on the wader scrape at the South Lake this morning. The bird may be one that has been seen on and off for a week or so, but with so many recorded in the UK this Autumn, it could well be a completely new arrival.

Zeiss Hide
The high tide roost included 7 Sanderling, 3 Turnstone including a stuning summer plumaged bird, 112 Ringed Plover, 183 Dunlin, a Redshank, a Greenshank later joined by another two birds, a Knot, 36 Black-tailed Godwit and 41 Avocet. The Spoonbill was roosting on the edge of Dumbles.

Rushy Hide
Birds seen this morning included 5 Black-tailed Godwit, 7 Green Sandpiper, 7 Lapwing, 2 Snipe, 13 Teal and a Grey Heron.

Martin Smith Hide
A Little Egret was on the pond.

Robbie Garnett Hide
At least 4 Yellow Wagtail were noted along with a Green Sandpiper and Common Sandpiper, 15 Teal and a singing Chiffchaff.

South Lake
As well as the juvenile Wood Sandpiper birds on the wader scrape included 12 Ruff, 52 Redshank, 347 Black-tailed Godwit, a juvenile Little-ringed Plover, 146 Lapwing and 15 Teal.
