Arctic Tern

Rushy

Arctic Tern briefly over the pond at 10.00 heading towards South lake. Avocet 27 prospecting and a gang of 40 Black Tailed Godwit close to the hide. A 2nd summer Med Gull was with the Black Heads.

Tack Piece

Good views of 15 redshank and a scattering of Wigeon, Teal and Shoveler. A sedge Warbler was singing in front of the Knott hide, Willow Warbler , Blackcap and Chiffchaff along walkway. A Great Spotted Woodpecker was behind the Martin Smith hide.

Zeiss Hide and South Finger walkway

A good scattering of birds. The Cranes are now incubating on the same island as last year lets hope they have the same success. Around 40 lapwings scattered around with at least 4 incubating birds close to the hide. Just 2 Avocets and 4 Black tailed Godwits but Redshank are looking very promising with 4 pairs starting to look territorial, 7 Ruff were in the flood on the Bottom New Piece and 11 very hard to see Golden Plover were hidden in the rush there as well, still the odd Snipe around. Lots of singing along the walkway with Blackcap, Chiffchaff, Willow, Cettis Warbler and my first Reed Warbler was singing in front of the hide. A distant Peregrine was on the Dumbles cross fence. Still a good scattering of Ducks, Wigeon 14, Teal 58 and Shoveler 20.

South Lake

Avocet 18,Blackwit", Tufted Duck 34, Shoveler 17, Little Grebe 1, Great Crested Grebe 2, Oystercatcher 3 and 22 Teal.
