A small flock of five Arctic Terns were settled on the estuary this morning

A small flock of five Arctic Terns were settled on the estuary this morning, including four adults and a juvenile.

Middle Point
After appearing settled and roosting on the mudflats, the Arctic Terns gradually drifted downriver. A small flock of small waders were on the wet mud made up of 25 Dunlin and eight Sanderling. Also noted were 47 Avocet just to the north of the point, a creche of Shelduck, two Grey Heron, seven Little Egret and a large juvenile female Peregrine.

Kingfisher Hide
The male Kingfisher arrived outside the nest hole with a fish, before the female arrived and went into nest. A female Roe Deer with two fawns were on bank beyond, and also noted were a brood of seven Gadwall.

Martin Smith Hide
A male Banded Demoiselle was flitting over the ditch next to the bridge near to the hide.

Robbie Garnett Hide
Nine Green Sandpiper and a Common Sandpiper were on the Tack Piece this morning.

South Lake
One of the Spotted Redshank moved here from the Rushy mid-morning. An adult Mediterranean Gull was amongst the Black-headed Gull flock, and also noted were 11 Redshank, 453 Black-tailed Godwit, three Green Sandpiper, three male Ruff and two Oystercatcher. After taking its first flight yesterday, the juvenile Crane was back on the Duck Marsh with its parents.

Zeiss Hide
A Great Egret was again on the Top New Piece, and another on the Long Ground Pool noted from the Estuary Tower. At least 70 Gadwall were around the area along with a Green Sandpiper and 53 Teal.

Rushy Hide
Four Spotted Redshank were present this morning, with three on the lower pond and one on the upper pond. The latter bird moved to the South Lake later in the morning. Also counted were 12 Redshank and two male Ruff.
