9:40am - As yet no sign of the Little Bustard but several birders on site looking from the special viewpoint set up on the seawall along the Summer Walkway. Keep an eye on our Twitter feed for the latest news and details of late or early opening should the bird be seen, details here.

Zeiss Hide
A flock of 36 Redshank were roosting on one of the islands this morning whilst a flock of Avocet were stood in the water nearby. With those birds sat on nests, there were 63 Avocet counted this morning. Other birds of note included 2 Oystercatcher, 12 Gadwall, 16 Teal, a Buzzard, and three broods of Shelduck.

South Lake
A busy and birdy wader scrape this morning with a drake Garganey seen towards the Hogarth Hide, a pair of Little-ringed Plover (one on the nest in the cage and the other on the causeway in front of the Discovery Hide), a Green Sandpiper, 7 Redshank, 34 Avocet including one chick, 3 Oystercatcher, 37 juvenile Black-headed Gulls, 2 second calendar year Mediterranean Gulls and 80 Gadwall. We're starting to see the return of our Black-tailed Godwits from their breeding grounds in Iceland with the flock now up to 122 birds. A Kingfisher flew past and on the deep lake the pair of Great Crested Grebe have at least one chick riding on the adult's back.

Rushy Hide
The pair of Little-ringed Plover were on the lower pond this morning with a Green Sandpiper and 17 Avocet. The Oystercatcher family were on the causeway and at least two more Green Sandpiper were on the back shoreline of the upper pond.
