Four Bewick's Swans returned to the reserve today, first seen early on the Top New Piece before heading to the Rushy for the morning feed. Three of these birds were here last week; Gastro and new partner Roux (photo) and Bubbly. The fourth bird was a new arrival, an unknown bird partnered to Bubbly and thus called Bubbling.

A drake Red-breasted Merganser flew low along canal this morning, over Patch Bridge (canal bridge on entrance road to site) in the direction of Frampton. A pair have been seen along the canal of late, plus a Shag further south at Sharpness.
