Bore Safari

We were out on the river early this morning for the first of our Bore Safaris and treated to two second-calendar year Spoonbills flying overhead before turning south to roost on the spartina island.

We were out on the river early this morning for the first of our Bore Safaris and treated to two second-calendar year Spoonbills flying overhead before turning south to roost on the spartina island.

Our other events this weekend are sold out but with early members’ access you can view from Middle Point/Summer Walkway. The bore is expected to pass on Saturday around 8:50am, and Sunday around 9:35am.

Six Green Sandpiper were on the Tack Piece this morning.

Rushy Hide
The lower pond held 5 Black-tailed Godwit, 16 Green Sandpiper and 2 Avocet. Two Spoonbill were seen in flight over the Rushy this morning, heading towards the South Lake but were later seen in flight over the river.

South Lake
A nice busy wader scrape this morning which included the juvenile Garganey, 6 Shoveler, 179 Greylag Geese, 12 Ruff, 321 Black-tailed Godwit, 56 Redshank, 3 juvenile Little-ringed Plover plus the adult with a nearly fully-grown chick.

Zeiss Hide
Out on the Top New Piece this morning were the juvenile Wood Sandpiper, 78 Avocet, a single Redshank and Black-tailed Godwit, 4 Green Sandpiper, 7 Dunlin, 152 Lapwing and 2 Grey Heron. The Two Spoonbill were seen roosting on the spartina island out on the river.
