Brown Hare encounters and W.s Bluethroat news

Brown Hares were again evident on the Summer Walkway path and Tack Piece, these confiding animals are seemingly oblivious to humans, there was quite possibly some boxing involved today, this would indicates that a female discouraging is the attention and attendance of a male, this distraction is quite possibly why the Hares are ignoring humans.

White-spotted Bluethroat update

This bird hasn't been seen or heard since the 11 July, it's very likely that it will now disappear whilst it goes through a moult stage, it may appear again later in the season prior to migration. This was highlighted as per the 24 June post link that follows

Some sightings from around the site as follows.

Tack Piece

Adult Wood Sandpiper plus Common and 7 Green Sandpiper, 3 male Ruff, Lapwing, Redshank, Avocet and Oystercatcher, 4 Little-ringed Plover, 6 Teal, 3 Gadwall, Grey Heron, Little and Great Egret. 9 Barnacle Geese and Brown Hare on the field.

South Lake

Four male Ruff, 12 Redshank, 3 Green Sandpiper, 188 Black-tailed Godwit, 3 Avocet, Oystercatcher, Crane pair with two young, flocks of Teal, Gadwall and 53 Coot. The Black Swan is still present.

Middle Point

70 Curlew, 12 Grey Heron, 2 GBB Gull and crèches of feeding Shelduck. Meadow Pipit on the fences, lots of Reed Buntings activity and a few warblers in the hedgerow.

Summer Walkway

Two Brown Hares along the path + feeding Reed Buntings.

Rushy Hide

Male Ruff, Avocets with young, four Black-tailed Godwit and broods of ducklings (Tufted Duck, Mallard, Shelduck and Gadwall).

Top New Piece

Three Avocet, three Green Sandpiper, Gadwall with five near fledged young, a flock of Teal on the flood.
