Cranes have laid an egg!

Crane pair 'Oakie and Sherbert' have laid their first egg of the year

Following a weekend of nest building and early week displaying the first egg laid by Oakie appeared overnight on the Top New Piece, it can be seen from the Zeiss and Van de Bovenkamp Hides with both birds on territory and keeping a close watch, a second egg should be laid tomorrow or the day after.

Other sightings included the following.

Rushy Hide

Five drake and 2 duck Pochard, single Pintail, 3 Avocet, 2 Oystercatcher, Black-tailed Godwit.

Tack Piece

119 Wigeon, 5 Redshank, 2 Little Egret and 15 Curlew + Teal, Shelduck, Shoveler

Estuary Tower

126 Russian White-fronted Geese, Black-tailed Godwit, 11 Lapwing, 13 Curlew, 2 Shoveler, 12 Wigeon, 32 Avocet, Snow Goose, 2 drake Pintail and 62 Teal. Middle Point- imm Peregrine + female Marsh Harrier (moved to Top New Piece). Lower Dumbles- 13 Curlew

Top New Piece

A couple of Mediterranean Gulls with 120 Black-headed Gull, 8 Wigeon, 2 Black-tailed Godwit, 2 drake and one duck Pintail.

Long Ground Pool

A pair of Pochard. South Lake- 780 Black-tailed Godwit + Avocets, Oystercatchers, Teal and Shoveler
