Godwit Exstravaganza

South Lake

A stunning flock of adult Black Tailed Godwit many close to the hide, mobile but at least 230 here this morning. The post breeding flock of Redshank numbered 47 and there was a fantastic set of Ruff, adult males in various stages of moult and just 1 reeve. Three Little Ringed Plovers a juvenile and 2 adults were running around at the back of the scrape. a juvenile Garganey was with a small group of Teal on the scrape and lots of Gadwall and a juvenile Pochard on the lake.

Hogarth Hide (South Lake)

Zeiss Hide

Another 115 Black Tailed Godwit here and 12 adult and 14 juvenile Avocet. Three Redshank and two Green Sandpipers among 103 Lapwing. Reed Warblers close to the hide, 2 Herons and a late brood of Shelduck.

Kingfisher

A lone male flying around and calling but not sure if they have started a third clutch or not.

Rushy

Green Sandpiper 14 a single Greenshank, an adult male ruff and a juvenile Redshank. Just an adult and 2 fledged young Avocet remaining all the others have fledged. One Common Sandpiper and 3 mobile Little Ringed Plovers moving between here and the Robbie Garnett. A full set of Wagtails with several Pied, and single male Grey and Yellow.

Summer Walkway

Now open complete with new path, Some work on gates to be completed next week but hope to keep it open throughout. Thanks for your patience
Avocet 1 Little Egret 2, Curlew 107, Shelduck 2 broods, Yellow wagtail, 2 among the cattle with a large flock of starlings and a Juvenile Stonechat on the cross fence.
