South Lake

Avocets 16 busy feeding
Black Tailed Godwit a sleepy flock of 38.
Shoveler 22 including some very close birds
Pochard a single male on the lake.
Great Crested Grebe a very handsome pair.
Sand Martin around 20 over the lake
Blackcap and Willow Warbler singing on approach to hide.

Tack Piece

Great White Egret 2 a fine breeding plumage bird and a yellow billed bird.
Grey Heron with the Egrets
Little Ringed Plover 4 along the halfway scrape.
Redshank 15 roosting
Oystercatchers 5 charging around.
Wigeon 22
Teal 26
Blackcap & Wiilow Warbler singing on walkway.
Sedge Warbler singing quietly from reeds near Knott hide.

Rushy

Starting to get very busy with BH Gulls here.
Avocet 12 all paired off and prospecting..
Black Tailed Godwit 12 some close to hide.
Redshank 1
Watch out for Med Gulls later on 1 or 2 1st Summer birds yesterday.

Kingfisher Hide

Golden Plover 19 including some very handsome full summer plumage birds.
Lapwing scattered all over field, displaying, territorial, scraping and incubating birds.
Teal a tight flock of 46 crammed into the corner of the Bottom New Piece.
Kingfisher; long waits for nest change over expect activity to increase toward the end of the month when the young should hatch.
Blackcap, Chiffchaff, Willow and Cettis Warbler all singing in reed bed.
Fieldfare a surprise group of 48 were circling around the area at 07.45 this morning.

Zeiss Hide

Black Tailed Godwit only 5 but very active feeding close to the hide.
Ruff one large adult male with the Godwit and another 4 distantly in the scrape.
Lapwings just stunning, loads going on and at least 7 incubating birds seen. This is a really great time to enjoy these incredible birds at their very best.
Crane Pair still incubating on southern most island.
Avocet 18 feeding rather than breeding.
Snipe odd birds hiding in the rushes if you look hard.
Ducks Still 30 Teal, 16 Wigeon and 18 Shoveler with a few pairs of Gadwall.
