Green-winged Teal and Spoonbill again

Highlights for today include the following.

Tack Piece

An adult Spoonbill was roosting on the bank, best viewed from Martin Smith Hide, this is the same bird as seen on Sunday, it visited South Lake.. At least 188 Russian White-fronted Geese on the field, 8 Black-tailed Godwit, 4 Curlew, 400 Wigeon, 8 Redshank, Snow and Ross's Goose

Estuary Tower

Two Sand Martin North in the drizzle, a Little-ringed Plover flew over calling South, 4 Ringed Plover were flying around over the Dumbles with 3 Bar-tailed Godwit and 27 Curlew over high tide, just three Dunlin presetn along the shore with four in flight, 28 Avocet on the scrape, 8 Great Black-backed Gull, 13 Pintail, 100 Wigeon + Skylarks, 45 Greylag, Barnacle and Canada Geese.

Kingfisher Hide

A pair of Kingfishers at the nest hole, another two or three fighting near to the South Finger viewing screen, 5+ Chiffchaff singing, 4 Dunlin on the Bottom New Piece flood + mating Redshank and displaying Lapwing.

South Lake

Two adult breeding and at least three 3rd calendar year Mediterranean Gulls among 529 Black-headed Gulls, 122 Avocet, 401 Black-tailed Godwit, 3 Little Egret, 2 Lapwing, Snipe, 4 Oystercatcher.

Top New Piece

Mediterranean Gull with 19 Herring and a Common Gull, 4 drake and one female Pochard.

General

A Red Kite flew over the North end of the reserve and across the Severn. Siskins and Lesser Redpolls remain in the grounds.
