Guillemot on the Severn

The biggest surprise today was finding a Guillemot on a sandbank just off Middle Point, we hadn't experienced any particularly windy weather and the bird, although disorientated appeared to be quite healthy. It spent between 0800-1400 in the same spot but was lifted by the afternoon tide and may have floated off.

Rushy Hide/Peng Observatory

Three Spotted Redshank, 20 Ruff, Avocet, two Juvenile Wood Sandpiper,2 Green Sandpiper, 111 Black-tailed Godwit, 5 Snipe and 15 Redshank, Willow Warbler and Goldfinches in the weeds near Peng Obs.

Turnstone in the Rushy this morning per J.Budd.

South Lake

At least six juvenile Garganey with the Shoveler/Teal/Gadwall, 122 Lapwing, 206 Black-tailed Godwit and Mandarin.

Tack Piece- one or two Redstart along Summer Walkway hedge/fence, Yellow Wagtail with the cattle herd +6 Lapwing

Middle Point

On the mudflats/creeks- Spoonbill, 7 Little Egret, GW Egret, 90 Shelduck, 2 Cape Shelduck (or hybrids), 9 Sanderling, 3 Little Stint, c80 Ringed Plover, c40 Dunlin + 2 Whinchat (moved from Summer Walkway).

Tack Piece

Juvenile Whinchat, Stonechat, Lesser and Common Whitethroat along Summer walkway hedge, 50 Black-tailed Godwit on the scrape but flew off and a juvenile Whiterthroat from Stephen Kirk Hide.

Top New Piece

Two roosting Spoonbill, 5 Snipe, 2 juvenile Ruff, 4 Green Sandpiper and 82 Teal among the birds present.

Wild Safari (am)

Marsh Harrier, Guillemot, three Whitethroat, Hobby, 4 Kestrel, Roe Deer, two Crane families, 69 Ringed Plover, 7 Sanderling and c30 Dunlin.
