Hide round sightings for the last day of February 23

Spoonbill, White-rumped Sandpiper and Greater Scaup still here

South Lake

The first winter White-rumped Sandpiper was feeding on the north causeway and islands but as usual was very mobile, 5 Snipe, c60 Dunlin, 7 Ruff, 7 Black-tailed Godwit and 310 Lapwing on the wader scrape, 60 Shoveler, 19 Cormorant, 23 Pochard and 4 Oystercatcher also present.

Top New Piece

Adult Spoonbill (pictured) roosting on the southern island, 475 Golden Plover, 449 Dunlin, 289 Wigeon, 5 Pochard, singing Reed Bunting and Cetti's Warbler and displaying Lapwing, about 160 present.

Rushy Hide/Peng Observatory

87 Bewick's Swans on the Rushy at 07:45am + the first winter Greater Scaup.

Tack Piece

Single Redshank, 6 Curlew, 400 Wigeon, 5 Pintail and 28 Shoveler.

Geese

189 Russian White-fronted Geese still present this morning, 85 on the Bottom New Piece, best viewed from Kingfisher Hide and 104 in the Ox Piece (with 18 Bewick's Swans) best viewed distantly from the Estuary Tower.
